URL-Addressable Fresco Selection?

edited April 2016 in Fresco

Pardon me if this has been asked before, but I couldn't seem to find this anywhere. Is it possible, in a URL, to navigate someone to a page with a specific video pre-clicked so that it shows up in fresco? My friend has a WordPress site running the plugin, and we want to send someone a link that will take them to the page with a particular video already open in the lightbox view. For example, something like: http://nicholaswenger.com/galleries/gallery-directing/?fresco=playground

  • That's not something build into Fresco, but you could implement it using the API by parsing the querystring after the DOM loads.

  • Thanks for the quick reply! We've already wandered far beyond my abilities, but I'll try reading the documentation and see if I can gain some kind of foothold. It sounds like I can leave a marker in the url that triggers a script that runs after the rest of the page has loaded. Just to further reveal my ignorance... would that have to be run in PHP, or could it be some sort of JavaScript?

It would be javascript that you run after the DOM is ready. The same way the API examples run, but with an extra check to parse the querystring and a check to see if whatever you parse from the string is an element that you can open with Fresco.show() before you pass it in.
