I want to call a function just like initialize on first show.
I am already using afterUpdate() function to initialize the methods inside the tooltip but this function runs again on each show.

changing options once created

Hi,

Is it possible to change a tip's options once a tip is created? For example, most of my tips don't have a close button, but there are a couple that I want to load via ajax that I want to add a close button to once they're loaded - as in, I want each tip's developer to be able to choose whether their tip has a close button or whether they're hidden on click-outside or something else.

I have no useful knowledge of HTML or scripting, I'm a tv director and designer just wanting to build a website for myself. I've tried out Muse and cobbled together a framework I'm happy with. I now nee to add the video overlays triggered on button clicks.

The source video would be QuickTime h.264 files.

Is Lightbox something I could use or is there another way?

Starbox not showing up at all

I have Starbox "installed" on my webserver.

I placed all 3 folders in the following way

css is located at /assets/css/
images is located at /assets/img/
js is located at /assets/js/

I did update /assets/js/starbox.js's image path to ../img/starbox/

As you can see by that, the stars don't show up at all. I have the following in the header:

Bug with lightview and vimeo

Bit of a strange bug I'm having, not sure whether it's vimeo or lightview playing up. Basically, when I use lightview to play a video from vimeo, it loads and plays fine. But if you try to skip part of the video, say to the middle of the video file, it moves the cursor to the middle of the timeline but plays the video from the start.

Or to rephrase slightly, I can't skip to the middle of a vimeo file when it's embedded with lightview.

Any ideas?

Duplicate tooltips shown when mouse moved over content

Hi,

I have just downloaded the demo version of tipped. It's working great except for when you move the mouse over the content of the tooltip - this then creates a new blank tooltip which is shown underneath the existing tooltip and it moves the existing tooltip with content further down the page and to the right.

If you move the mouse out of the tooltip, they usually dissappear but when I hover my element again the tooltip is empty but is the correct size and style.

Here's my code, I am populating the div dynamically:
Tipped.create("[id*='course_status']", $("[id*='course_status_tooltip']")[0]);

I am using c#.net with VS2010 on my windows 7 machine viewing this in IE 8.

Any help much appreciated.

getting a list of created tooltips when created through function

My tooltips are loaded through a function that calls some ajax:


Tipped.create(selector, function (element)
{
	return ToolTips.LoadToolTip(element);
}

But after the first time this is called on an element, the html is loaded so I don't want to have to call ajax unnecessarily.
Tipped.get will return both loaded and unloaded tips. I know I can keep an internal list of tips that have gone through the process, but I was wondering if there is a built in way that I'm not seeing to get a list of tips that have been shown at least once on a page.

The dirty way I'm thinking of is something like:


onShow: function(content, element) {
  $(element).data("tiploaded", "true");
}

and then check for that in my Load function.

How to remove "Lightview" button at the start?

I am a paid subscriber to this plugin. I do not want to show "Lightview" button in the modal slideshow. I will leave all the credits in the code, where they belong. Please advise how I should get rid of that button that shows up at the top right in the first image of any lightview gallery.

Not as sleek as Scriptaculous version

Perhaps I'm missing something, but this version is just not as sleep at the older version. For instance, the next/prev navigation arrows are completely disjointed from the image.

And the arrows just show up, instead of a sleek slideout and slidein type of effect (e.g., http://onishigallery.com/artists/anjin-abe -- click on any of the thumbnails on the left).

How can I replicate that effect in the Jquery version, which, given than it's more expensive than every before, I am hoping will be more or at least as powerful as the older LV.

I looked at the documentation and there's nothing there to make it easy. I'd rather not tinker with the code inside the plugin.

How do I enable this? When the person reaches the last image, I want the user to still see the "Next" arrow on the right, and when clicked, the first image shows and the slideshow starts again. Thanks.

I'm new by using Lightview(3) and i have a problem with use. I try the following code:

but it will only open a modal window (i think 60x60px) with the loading gif and nothing happens! I tried to use the link with an ajax-request, but with using the ajax-Parameter NOTHING will happen ( href="xyz.php"...). Were is the mistake ? My Request for Lightview is in a cell of a table! Please help!

jquery1.7 is used. Firefox/IE/Chrome/IPad all the same result!

Multiple Lightviews per page

I've added four separate Lightviews to a single page of a website. Each has 12 images. They all link so when you have viewed the first one it moves onto the second and so on. The number count totals all 48 images. Is it possible to have more than one Lightviews on a page and for them to all work independently?

weird behavior in chrome due to Tipped.refresh and jquery-ui tabs

So here's the situation:

I am showing a tip with a jquery-ui tabs structure in it. The first (and preselected) tab has static content. All other tabs get loaded with a div like Loading.... The reason for that is I want all other tabs to load via ajax but through a function instead of a url. So what I do is on tab select (http://jqueryui.com/demos/tabs/#event-select), I check if the panel of the tab contains a '.tiploading', and if it does, I call an ajax function that replaces the div with html returned from the ajax call on success. Then after all is done, I call Tipped.refresh() on the whole tip because each tab has different content.

This works great in firefox 9.0.1 (except that the resizing of the tip could be a little smoother - is there a way to attach an animation to that?), but in chrome 18, the html gets returned but, but the whole tooltip freezes and doesn't refresh. The loading div is still there visually although if I inspect the element, it actually isn't and you can see the html returned from the call is correctly in the dom. The curious thing is that if I comment out Tipped.refresh, then everything works, but of course, the tooltip doesn't expand to encompass the new content.

I am running the latest version of jquery, jquery-ui and tipped.

Any ideas?

As an aside, is Tipped.refresh the best thing to do in this situation? I am not looking to reskin or reposition - just change the dimensions to fit the content.

I have been using lightview for the last 6 months, I have came a across some difficulties with mobile usage with android on samsung Tab, new samsung mobile phones. I was trying to find some info at the forum, i have seen that there have been problems reported with lightview on ipads, iphones, android devices and so on, but the posts are more than 6 months old.

I wonder if you have an info about how does lightview work with different mobile devices. I have just seen that you have came up with the new version, does it solve some issues regarding the mobile usage. I think that is a very important issue for all us users and you as a developer, since iphone, iPAD & co. are prerequisites for website developing.

Textbox_Name1 will fill two other textboxes. If the other textboxes change their text (working, tested) the tooltip should show up but it does not.

Do not wonder why i get the jqeury element by a function like get_Textbox_Suchbegriff(), it does work.
If i use showOn : 'click' or any other event the tooltip will show as expected. But my intended use of the API calls like show/hide are not working at all, just nothing happens and no error message. I managed to get the Tipped.hide('#name1_benutzername_tooltip'); working once but the show did not work.
I am trying to get this to work for 2 hours now.
Any hint on where i am wrong is much appreciated.

Hi,

2 quick questions:

1. Is it possible to fire off a tooltip on a rightclick of an element? I see you support level 2 mouse events but right click is not an event. I suppose you can check for which button was pressed in the function that gets the tip content, and then cancel the showing, but I haven't tried this yet and don't know if it will cause a flicker or work or if there's a better way.

2. I want to create a tooltip where part of it shows up immediately and part of it loads with ajax. For example, you right click on someone's name and immediately you see some options of what to do with them and then some quick info about the person loads on demand. Is there a built in way to do that or should I just manage the ajax call as part of the html that is returned for the tip?

Functions as content

Hi Everybody!

I would love to use Nick's script for my project. What would really fit best is "Functions as content".

I am using it for locations on a map and want to load in inline content from the same page.

My setup is simple:




My Content

The class="dot" has the visual dot for the location. The next div id="berlin" has the content. I will have a whole bunch of locations like that on the page. All of them have the class="dot" for visualizing the dot. The Content id will obviously differ.

I tried the "Functions as content" for this in order to make it easier for my college to bind the locations without needing to change any "hard coding". But I can't get it working!!!! :( Even when I copy/paste the example snippet

from Nick's page it will not work.

Has anybody have any ideas? Or is there something I should consider?

Best practice stars on opacity background

Hello,

I have a box over an image. The box is white but has a opacity statement so you could se the image behind the box. On the box I want to have the Starbox. But as it is now (the technique used) around the stars there is a white boarder (see image: http://forumbilder.se/images/af2012123418A27d8.jpg).

What is the best practice to make the stars fit with the opacity? The only way I can think of is show images where the star in the middle is the actual picture, but how do I implement this?

Static and Dynamic (AJAX) data in tooltip

Hey,

Is it possible to mix static and dynamic data within a tool tip?

In our perfect solution, I'd like to have the tool-tip show up immediately when activated, displaying a title and a spinner/"loading information..." tag while it loads the AJAX data. Once the AJAX request is completed, the spinner would be replaced with the data.

Any thoughts on how to achieve this?

Two questions about Tipped

Hello, I bought a license of Tipped, I was thnking it can help me to resolve a problem on a site I'm developing.
But now I have a doubt, I'm in trouble.
I have to display a (possibly) long unorderder list of

and the jQuery plugin I'm using a heavily bugged
altough it has a very nice feature.... automatic pagination.
(Look at attached image, menu is appearing on hovering on DIV http://tinypic.com/r/nxs1a1/5)

Then my solution is to replace it with tipped (element of the list loaded with ajax), but first I had to nnow a thing:
can tipped manage scrolling. For example I'd like to decide a max height of the tip... and if it contains more
than allowed height then scroll is active (maybe overflow:auto?), but if I set a fixed height, what if there is only one
element? Wasted blank space in bottom part of tip?

So now I'm very confused because at first glance I'm very enthusiatic looking at Tipped features but now I don't know
how to proceed or if must change direction and search for a jQuery menu plugin.

Second question is about viewing this page

with Safari and Iphone 4, tips are shown in completely misplaced positions relative
to item they are referring. This is worrying me...

Block scrolling

I would like to open another webpage in a lightview box (data-lightview-type="iframe").
I only want to see the upper- left part of that page and no scrollbar.
With the old version of Lightview I used 'scrolling:false'
Can anybody tell me how I can get rid of the scrollbars?
I have been experimenting with Viewport, but had no succes.

I am considering purchasing a commercial license for Lightview but wanted to ask first what the chances are of it working with Magento.

Magento uses:
Propotype 1.6.0.3
Scriptaculous 1.7.1 beta3

Will Lightview play nice with those versions of Prototype and Scriptaculous?
